About Us

OFALAN, an acronym for O'Fallon-Fairview Area LAN, was officially founded in fall of 2008.

Our goal is to provide the best possible stress-relieving, carefree atmosphere for gamers to unwind on the weekend. Our method for doing this is not new. For almost 10 years, people with a passion for games have been finding ways to organize "LAN parties" - social events with a focus on team based game play on a local network. LAN parties are an excellent way for gamers to have fun and meet new people.

Since 2007, Aaron M. hosted several yearly gatherings of his friends who shared the gaming hobby, in the basement of his home in Bresse, IL. In early 2008, Aaron told a coworker, Marcus P, about his LANs, and asked him to join the parties. Although not previously an avid gamer, Marcus began attending the events. At a party in mid-2008, it became apparent to them that Aaron's basement was too small for the number of players at the parties, so in late 2008, Marcus received permission from the owner of Mid America Web Solutions to use some excess space, and the group began meeting at the new location in O'Fallon, IL.

As the group began to grow, Chris B. and others of another local group, MOAL Party, helped lead Marcus and Aaron to understand the benefits of organizing somewhat of a group presence in the interest of obtaining sponsorships and local recognition. After some thought, the name of OFALAN was chosen, and the group became established as a host of organized LAN parties.

OFALAN is an organization with aspirations to become a larger, more influential circle of gamers. As of 2008, founding members Aaron M., Marcus P. and Nick S. serve as OFALAN administrators. Marcus oversees all aspects of the organization and is in charge of the OFALAN website. Aaron specializes in player relations, seeking out new gamers for events. Nick, along with Aaron and Marcus, is a capable network technician, and is also responsible for photography at events, much of the sponsor relations, governing gameplay and managing servers at events.
